Another new addition to the Hoops RS line-up. This high end wheelset offers performance, aerodynamics and style all in one package.
The 5.0 Carbon is a new avenue for us. Lacing a proven 50mm deep aero section carbon tub or clincher rim to our Pro 3 SP hub, gives a new option at this end of the market for road race and cyclo cross enthusiasts.
The wheels take the reliability and lightweight of the Pro3 RS-SP to a pro level. Stunning design and high level component specification make them a perfect choice for performance events, racing and training. We have used a super light 50mm carbon aero section rim, with a reliable 24 hole rear and lightweight 20 hole front drilling. The aero section is a structural part of the rim build and not a fairing as used on many other carbon rims. 3K carbon is used to build the super stiff and aerodynamic profile, and with the internal spoke nipples these aerodynamics are enhanced further. Angled drillings on the dedicated front and rear rims are used for better spoke alignment, truer building and a longer life. The tubular version has a full carbon braking surface (and carbon specific brake pads are recommended) and the Clincher has an alloy braking surface built into the rim.
The wheels are hand laced, built and finished in house at our Barnoldswick factory using Sapim CX Ray SP spokes and Polyax alloy nipples.
The new Pro3 SP hub is the same as the one used in both rims and on the 30mm alloy aero wheel. It’s a stunning example of what happens when functional design meets elegant art. The efficient straight pull flange further adds to the stiff construction, whilst the low profile design means a clean look is still achieved.
The proven 4 pawl drive mechanism is used as in all our other hubs, whilst the super smooth running and long lasting stainless steel bearings keep these wheels on the road for longer. An option of Shimano or Campagnolo freehub bodies are available.
Wheels come individually or as a pair and come complete with custom ‘Hoops’ etching on the hub.
Wheels are packaged in purpose made wheel boxes to avoid damage in transportation. |
